Do you plan to work or play on the ice this winter? Have you ever wondered what falling through the ice really feels like? Are you interested in learning how to avoid dangerous areas on the ice and how to self-rescue or assist others who have fallen through? If so, this Ice Safety Awareness course is for you!
Your Executive Committee has been working on a potential training opportunity to be offered in conjunction with our Annual General Meeting in February this year.
A one-day ‘Working on Ice’ course would be provided by Highlands Wilderness Training Institute on site at Geneva Park on February 26th. The course involves a classroom portion as well as an optional in water self-rescue session. A warming room, change area, and warm beverages and snacks will be provided. Participants must be prepared to bring a floater suit/coat (if available) and a warm change of clothes.
In order to go ahead with organizing the course, we require a minimum of five participants. Course cost is $220.00 per person.
